Meteor and eMobile customers have free access to any public Eircom hotspot
Eircom and the Cork Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to bring free WiFi to Eircom, Meteor and eMobile customers in many parts of Cork City and its suburbs as part of the Eircom WiFiHub programme.
Under Eircom’s WiFiHub programme business owners can become a hotspot provider at no cost, allowing them to potentially increase customer footfall and loyalty to their premises for free. This is especially relevant to businesses in the hospitality sector like cafes, restaurants and hotels.
Conor Healy, Chief Executive of Cork Chamber, stated,
“This service will be a great benefit for those visiting Cork, whether on business or leisure, making internet browsing a lot more accessible for the growing demand in data consumption.”
Current Eircom broadband customers, and Meteor and eMobile iPhone customers have free access to any Eircom WiFi hotspot. Non-Eircom customers are required to purchase vouchers that allow access for a specified amount of time.
Paul Donovan, Eircom’s CEO, added that they hope to have 4,000 Irish businesses signed-up to the programme by 2013.
