500px, the gorgeous Flickr alternative for serious photographers, has launched its own market place, allowing users to buy and sell high-quality canvas prints and digital downloads.
High quality canvas prints, available in either 24×36” or 30×30” with a 1.5” frame, can be purchased for $199. Delivery is US and Canada only for now.
The market place, or Market as it’s known, can be enabled for free by any photographer on 500px. The photographer receives 70% of revenue after all costs have been considered so the average payment for a 24×36” print is $40.
Digital downloads are available for $2.99 each, with the photographer pocketing around $2 from each sale.
As well as Market, 500px has introduced Flow. Flow is “an activity stream from the people you follow, created specially for you”. It allows users to discover content that their friends have liked, commented on or added to favourites.
Almost 200,000 images are already available to purchase. Our new favourite photo community site just got better.
